AirAsia X posts 27% increase in passenger load

download (3)AirAsia X Bhd (AAX) carried 1.03 million passengers in the second quarter of 2016, an increase of 27% from 810,944 passengers in the same corresponding quarter last year.

In a statement, the airline said despite historically being the leanest quarter, operating performance in the second quarter exceeded expectations due to demand across all regions, following the ongoing turnaround plan initiated last year.

“The double-digit increase of 27% year-on-year (y-o-y) exceeded capacity which grew 13% y-o-y.

“The capacity injected was well-absorbed with strong demand returned across all regions resulting in the passenger load factor (PLF) improving by seven percentage points (ppts) to 75% against 68% in the same period last year,” it said.
