Bizjournals.com reports that Delta Airlines says it will no longer allow “pit bull type” dogs on flights as emotional support animals. The change would include all “bull type” dogs. The publication reports that the change was made by the airline after several incidents where employees reported being bitten by animals.
The move follows a recent crack down by the airline industry on emotional service animals in general. the updated list of prohibited animals on Delta flights includes:
Bull type dogs
Non-household birds (farm poultry, waterfowl, game bird, & birds of prey)
Animals improperly cleaned and/or with a foul odor
Animals with tusks, horns or hooves
Delta says these animals “pose safety and/or public health concerns.”
