Biman registers Taka 276cr profit

164323biman-kalerkantho_picDHAKA, Dec 21, 2016 (BSS) – Biman Bangladesh Airlines has continued its profit in the second consecutive fiscal, as the national carrier registered a profit of Taka 276 crore in fiscal 2015-16.

In fiscal 2014-15, Biman had made a profit of Taka 324 crore.

The annual general meeting (AGM) of the national flag carrier held this evening approved the financial calculation, Biman General Manager (public relations) Shakil Meraj told BSS.

Chairman of Biman Board of Directors Enamul Bari chaired the AGM held at Balaka Bhaban.

In FY16, the state-run carrier has earned revenue of Taka 4,645 crore.

During the period, Biman has ferried a total of 23 lakh passengers which was 20 lakh in fiscal 2014-15.

Besides, Biman has shipped 40,911 metric tonnes of cargo, but the figure could not be inflated due to temporary ban on direct freight to London since January 8, said Shakil Meraj.

During the fiscal, Biman has attained 69 percent on time performance, he added.

Biman is now running its operation with 10 wide-body and 2 narrow-body aircraft to 15 international and 7 domestic destinations.
