Ctg passengers suffer as Biman flight fails to land due to dense fog

3215721A Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight, after its failure to land at Chittagong Shah Amanat International Airport due to dense fog, moved to Dhaka Shahjalal International Airport with passengers for landing.

The flight was scheduled to fly from Dubai Airport at 11:45pm on Sunday, but instead left the airport at 1:40am after getting delayed for about two hours. Later, it reached Chittagong around 7:00am on Monday.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) said the flight could not land at the airport due to heavy fog in the morning and instead landed at the Dhaka airport with over 80 passengers on board.

Mohammed Ali, a resident of Raozan in Chittagong who boarded the flight from Dubai, said 21 passengers got off the flight in Dhaka, but 70 more Chittagong-bound passengers were suffering a lot till Monday afternoon. The authority later informed that the suffering passengers would be afforded another flight expected to leave Dhaka at 4:00pm.

He alleged that the Chittagong-bound passengers had to suffer a lot as the flight stewards switched off the flight’s air-conditioning system. A good number of the passengers were children and women who suffered most due to tough condition inside the flight.

He also said that two of the passengers were returning home to attend Namaj-e-Janaja of their relatives. They failed to attend the Janaja as the flight could not land in time at the Chittagong airport.
